Brief 6 : Initial inspiration

Samples of work from Anagrama

Anagrama throughout third has made a huge impact on me, my of thinking and the presentation of work. I thought I would never get into packaging but recently I have started to become fascinated by it and what you really can do with various materials. I love their use of colour and pattern as you can see below they play around with pastel colours striking graphics. The products below are on the luxury scale of packaging as you don't often see these types of things in the super market, however they don't seem that expensive to make so therefore it would be nice to see more 'common' products look like this on the shelf.

Inspiring FemFresh

For example cosmetic products often look boring, for example FemFresh isn't the most appealing. Therefore I would like to boost the products image and make it appeal to an audience of 18-24 who may think it is embarrassing to use the product.

Hai Lien

You can see how Anagrama has been influencing other designers. Hai Lien uses similar photography and pattern design within their work. I believe this to be an exciting and contemporary way of presenting work which is also great for advertising.

TATABI Studio

The studio created for CO/CO the branding and packaging. The cosmetics are made with organic material and with healthy and clinical standards. They used materials that reflect the outdoors, in particular the paraffin tin-style jars and tubes that hold their lotions. Again I really enjoy the presentation of work. I think the use of plants in the photography help push the brands organic standards/ values.

Femfresh also has similar values and the products are rated as the ideal pH balance to intimate area (pH 3.8-4.5), different to external skin (pH 5.4-5.9). Femfresh are also gynaecologically & dermatologically tested products.

Bedow

Packaging for iNature Skincare — an Australian brand with skincare products made of natural ingredients, free from parabens, artificial colours and fragrances. The packaging range consists of three products with different levels of hydration — Calendula Hydrate, Calendula Nourish andCalendula Repair.

Art Direction for iNature Skincare — an Australian brand with skincare products made of natural ingredients, free from parabens, artificial colours and fragrances.

This is a great example of clinical packaging design and art direction.

Mucho

Fisix. This innovative project was initiated by 4 friends who run marathons together: They couldn’t find a range of cosmetic products that met their needs as sportsmen.

The initial phase was to create a name that reflected a contemporary way of practicing sports that would appeal to sports men and women.

Mucho generated a visual system that differentiates each product by using the lines that appear in courts or limits of sporting fields. By cropping and reinterpreting these lines they created liberating abstract shapes. They utilized a mixture of pastel colours with a dark gray as well as elegant typography in the logo to appeal to both a masculine and feminine audience.
